I have a heavily modded server and it frequently causes new joins to have issues if they don't understand how the mod downloads work with steam and this game. That system is very clunky and imo slighlty broken as I've seen many other games do it in a much nicer way.

I found it to be ark not downloading mods painful My only gripe is that the server doesn't automatically check for newest updates of the mods directly with Steam before starting up like the client does. That means I have to do a manual update from my client PC's Mod folder, across the network to my Server PC when a mod updates to avoid the mod mismatch problem.
